Well here we are, first day of competition, and everything that could have happened has happened. Its actually quite a story. Let’s start with last night shall we?
Well, here in little West Monroe, Louisiana, we got about 4 inches of rain in about a 6 hour period. Flash Flood warnings were in effect until 3am this morning, and

This rain. Oh boy. Let me tell you about this rain. This rain caused a tree to fall on my street, and the power was out until about 2 this morning. This rain has caused some awful flooding, especially at the school. It was actually so bad that we postponed our departure time from 7am to 9am.
This rain has also posed some major threats to our safety in transportation. Luckily, we were able to get a charter bus last-minute. We had been trying for months, but everyone from here to Shreveport was booked. Well, we called one more time this morning out of desperation. They said that they had just gotten a call from Grambling saying that they would no longer need their bus. We would have a bus by noon… Wait. Did you say noon??? Oh man. We were supposed to leave at 9.
But, luckily, the amazing Cody Lew (Mr. Lewis) was able to score us some super nice pizza for lunch. The bus arrived at noon, as promised, and we were on our way. It was mostly a quiet drive until the last 30 minutes, when a sophomore started blasting Katy Perry and Lady Gaga over a speaker. We all had a nice little jam… well… those of us who didn’t sleep like bricks and were actually awoken by the ruckus. But it was lovely, and memories are always made in the oddest of times. We actually just arrived at the hotel as I finish this post up at 4:51pm, so we haven’t had supper yet. But I’m sure it will be delicious as well! So, until the next update, stay lovely.
