As day one comes to an end, we sit in our rooms exhausted from a day full of adventure and fun.
This morning at about 8:3o, we pulled out of West Monroe High School and headed on our way to competition. With some complications in relationship to the bus slowing us down, we actually hopped on I-20 at about 9:30. The back portion of the bus was super awesome. We had a phone connected to a speaker bar in the bus, and jammed out to everything from Queen to Twenty One Pilots to that song from Lazy Town. We all had an amazing time on that bus today.
When we arrived in Little Rock, we went to the Clinton Presidential Library, where we were given a tour by a very cool lady. We got to see the archives, the presidential limo, and even a real Congressional Medal of Honor. There was also a Beatles exhibit temporarily on display while we were there, and I got to take video lessons on the drums from Ringo Starr himself.
After the tour, we went to the hotel and had a little down time. Then, we headed to the mall for supper. After supper (and some very relaxing massage chairs), we started to head back home, but there was a problem. As we were heading up a hill, the rear tires on the bus spun out. We were stuck on the hill. We all piled out and tried pushing the bus back down the hill, and while it was fun and hilarious to watch, it did not work. Eventually, we did get the bus to back up, and we took a different route home.
Well, that pretty much sums up our first day in Little Rock this year. It surely was an eventful and memorable day. Let’s hope our robot has better luck than the bus has had! Good luck everyone!
