Well, today was one for the books, Magnatech. We started off the morning well. We lazily arose from our slumber to prepare for the long day ahead of us, rode the elevator downstairs, and ate a nice little breakfast at the hotel. We then set off for our Practice Day.
When we arrived at Comp, we unloaded quickly. According to Dalton Moore, the Build Team Captain, it was the fastest Pit assembly he has seen in his four years with the team.
We quickly began to run into problems, but our amazing Pit Team did rolled with the punches, not allowing any adversity to slow their momentum.
After our first practice round, we had a battery malfunction that needed to be corrected before we could continue with anything else. We then brought our robot in for inspection, but they would not pass us. We had to go back and correct an issue with our bumpers. We ended up missing the rest of our practice rounds due to constant issues with the bumpers, which forced the judges to not allow us to pass the safety inspection.
Those judges were extremely gracious, though. According to the rules of competition, we should not be allowed to practice in any of the practice rounds tomorrow. The judges, however, saw how hard out Pit Crew worked the entire day trying to get our robot approved, so they allowed us three minutes tomorrow morning to pass a safety inspection and be able to participate in the practice rounds since we were unable to do so today.
We also were given a new bus today. While we were at competition, the bus driver brought our bus to a mechanic to see if we could get the air compression issue fixed. When the mechanic told him that he wouldn’t be able to fix it that day, the tour bus company sent us a new bus before we even realized that the original bus was at a mechanic. After competition, we quickly unloaded the old bus and loaded it all on to the new bus. We then went to Dave and Buster’s for supper.
And thus we conclude our second day in Little Rock, Arkansas. Good night all!
